They are one of the most well known and popular alternative rock groups in the world and they have only been around for ten years. The magic for Coldplay began in 1996 when founding members Chris Martin (vocals, piano and guitar) and Jonny Buckland (lead guitar) met at University College London during orientation. They spent a year putting together the band and playing a few small venues – first as Pectoralz, then as Starfish – before settling on the name that we have all come to know and love.
