Multicolor fonts are those that have full chromatic capabilities built in. Rather than using CSS, OpenType, or a layering of fonts to achieve the effect they embed color bitmaps or vector shapes.

While good color palettes are easy to come by these days, finding the right color palette for data visualizations is still quite challenging.

When using GDI+ method you can optimize the process of bitmap manipulation  seven  times.I am implementing an image scaling algorithm at my University Seam Carving . While working on this project I realized that simply accessing pixels by the GetPixel and SetPixel methods is too slow.

The Bitmap class has GetPixel and SetPixel methods that let you acquire and change color of chosen pixels. Those methods are very easy to use but are also extremely slow. Fortunately, you don’t have to use external libraries (or resign from .NET altogether) to do fast image manipulation. The Framework contains a class called ColorMatrix that lets you apply many changes to images in an efficient manner. Properties such as contrast or saturation can be modified this way. But what about manipulation of individual pixels? It can be done too, with the help from the Bitmap.LockBits method and the BitmapData class… A good way to test individual pixel manipulation speed is color difference detection. The task is to find portions of an image that have color similar to some chosen color. How to check if colors are similar? Think about color as a point in three dimensional space, where axis are: red, green and blue. Two colors are two points. The difference between colors is described by the distance between two points in RGB space.

Waveform.js makes drawing SoundCloud waveforms simple and lets you style and color them the way you want it. It comes as a small JavaScript library and is using a lightweight service hosted on waveformjs.org that translates the waveform images provided by SoundCloud into floating points.

There's been an explosion in the number of colorized photos lately. People find old black-and-white photos online, and meticulously add color to give us a new perspective on history. But recently one colorized image caught my eye after it was tweeted by the notoriously inaccurate HistoryInPics. It's a stunningly colorful view of the Golden Gate Bridge in 1940. But the photo is a lie.P

Bennett Feely has been doing a good job of showing people the glory of CSS blend modes. There are lots of designerly effects that we're used to seeing in static designs (thanks to Photoshop) that we don't see on the web much, with dynamic content. But that will change as CSS blend modes get more support. I'd like to look at the different ways of doing it, since it's not exactly cut and dry.

This plugin allows you to tint/blend images using any specified color. It works kind of like the old palette-shifting approaches in old-school games, but you can effectively colourize an ig.Image or ig.AnimationSheet to any custom color.

So I know that context.clearRect makes pixels transparent, but I'm wondering, is there a function to make pixels translucent?

but some of the parts of the image are specifically #ff0000 and I would like to be able to replace it by some other color, a custom user defined color.
