XPI - firefox - Install Firebug Extension Manually - Stack Overflow (I used this solution to install manually ThumbnaiZoom)

To install Firebug manually : There are two ways to run extensions manually: 1. Extract the XPI : Download the XPI file that contains the extension Locate the 'extensions' folder within your profile (e.g. via Firefox menu > Help > Troubleshooting Information > Show Folder) Create a new folder within the 'extensions' folder and call it like the add-on's id (for Firebug this is [email protected]) Extract the XPI into that folder 2. Get the sources from the git repository: A detailed description for how to do that can be found on the development setup description on the Firebug wiki. It's similar to the description above with the addition that you'll be able to always get the latest sources. Two notes: - The folder name must be the same as the addon's ID (look in install.rdf of the addon) In your case it's not firebug-2.0b1 , but [email protected] - The directory where the addon should be placed is not where the Firefox itself is installed, but into your Firefox's profile. By default it's in %APPDATA%MozillaFirefoxProfilesXXXXXextensions (where XXXXX is name of your profile folder. More info about profiles you can find here)

OutWit Images - Allows users to quickly navigate through Web pages and search engine results to harvest countless images automatically or manually. : Add-ons for Firefox

Add-on compatible with Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. OutWit Images distinguishes itself by allowing users to easily save the pictures onto their hard disk while they browse through the results. Grab images with a simple drag and drop, or by setting size or format criteria : if high-resolution pictures can be found behind the thumbnails, the program will extract them automatically. Its sleek, easy-to-use interface displays the thumbnails on a black background and allows to smoothly scroll through quantities of images, making the search efficient and easy. Very good extension for downloading images from the web. Used to like cooliris, but the autocatch feature on this makes it the better image tool.

You can find the basic uploader here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/upload/basic And an interview about this extension on "Global Voices": http://www.globalvoicesonline.org/2007/02/14/access-flickr-iran/ History: In my country (Iran), unfortunately, the flickr.com is banned. I'm a fan of that photo-archive website, so I wrote this extension just to help my dear friends who can not access flickr.com from Iran.

User Script Compiler - Easily convert Greasemonkey scripts into Firefox extensions

First, you'll need to track down your installed scripts. They're in your Firefox profile, under the "gm_scripts" sub-folder. Or, if you'd prefer, you can skip the search and download any script from the online script repository. Next, you need to change the file extension from .js (Javascript) to .txt (plain text). After you've changed the extension, double-click the file to view the code. Copy and paste the code into the User Script Compiler and hit "Generate." Voila! Your new Firefox extension (.xpi) is complete. To install in Firefox, simply drag the new extension onto the Firefox interface and follow the prompts.

Ubiquity __Presentation ____Mozilla Labs » Blog Archive »

by 4 others
Mozilla Labs experiment into connecting the Web with language in an attempt to find new user interfaces that could make it possible for everyone to do common Web tasks more quickly and easily. The overall goals of Ubiquity are to explore how best to: * Empower users to control the web browser with language-based instructions. (With search, users type what they want to find. With Ubiquity, they type what they want to do.) * Enable on-demand, user-generated mashups with existing open Web APIs. (In other words, allowing everyone–not just Web developers–to remix the Web so it fits their needs, no matter what page they are on, or what they are doing.) * Use Trust networks and social constructs to balance security with ease of extensibility. * Extend the browser functionality easily.

Ubiquity__Firefox Add-ons__

It is activated by the keyboard CTRL Space command which displays a transparent black rectangle in the upper left corner of the screen below the Firefox header area. That screen resembles a command line waiting for user input. There are about 50 commands that Ubiquity comes installed with which are the core of the extension. This reaches from posting messages (about a website) to Twitter, looking up information on Wikipedia, performing web searches on various search engines or looking up information on Google Maps. The real benefit for the user is that he does not have to leave the current tab to get the information because everything happens in that black box. Results are shown in that block as well in real time.

Extracts the most important sentences of a web page__add-on___Firefox add-on is available for Great Summary___g-hacks

Don’t have the time to read a long article on a web page? Then it might be worth to give the Great Summary service a try. The service extracts the most important sentences of a web page and provides them as a summary to the user. A Firefox add-on is available for Great Summary as well. It adds an entry to the right-click menu which sends the page to Great Summary. The service could be very interesting if the developers would improve the detection rate of the important parts of a web page further. They should also lay more emphasize on titles and lists because these usually contain important information. Still: There is not much to lose here. If you are desperately needing a summary you might want to give Great Summary a try.
