Mozilla Labs experiment into connecting the Web with language in an attempt to find new user interfaces that could make it possible for everyone to do common Web tasks more quickly and easily. The overall goals of Ubiquity are to explore how best to: * Empower users to control the web browser with language-based instructions. (With search, users type what they want to find. With Ubiquity, they type what they want to do.) * Enable on-demand, user-generated mashups with existing open Web APIs. (In other words, allowing everyone–not just Web developers–to remix the Web so it fits their needs, no matter what page they are on, or what they are doing.) * Use Trust networks and social constructs to balance security with ease of extensibility. * Extend the browser functionality easily.

La carte permet de structurer son esprit plus facilement qu'un plan qui hiérarchise obligatoirement les idées (le 1 est avant le 2, donc parait plus important : sur une carte il est autour, à droite ou à gauche, en haut ou en bas ; on peut rassembler des groupes d'idées sur un côté, mais il n'y a pas de hiérarchie sauf si on décide d'en attribuer une). L'intérêt est d'abord égoïstement personnel : quand on a besoin de rassembler ses idées (pour un cours, une conférence, un exposé, un article...), la carte me semble l'outil le plus approprié, en tout cas pour démarrer. Un outil de présentation, à partager La deuxième utilisation est le partage : si on fait une carte c'est aussi pour qu'elle soit lue. Par des collègues, des amis, des stagiaires, des élèves... tous ceux à qui on est susceptible de transmettre un message, ou mieux tous ceux qui travaillent ensemble sur un projet. Search site and aggregator VideoSurf isn't perfect at what it tries to do, but it can be occasionally, surprisingly good at spotting particular faces inside videos. The indexing engine (currently in beta, of course) sorts through videos from most of the popular Flash-based sites and lets you search to find only videos with, say, Jerry Seinfeld's actual image in them. A few of my searches turned up false positives, but others yielding surprising accuracy, and VideoSurf's interface lets you skip right to the sections featuring your searched man or woman. VideoSurf is a free to use, though you can sign up to save your searches.
