System Requirements The minimum memory requirement for Ubuntu 9.04 is 256 MB of memory. Note that some of your system's memory may be unavailable due to being used by the graphics card. If your computer has only the minimum amount of memory, the installation process will take longer than normal, but will complete successfully, and the system will perform adequately once installed. Systems with less memory may be able to select "Install Ubuntu" from the boot menu to run just the installer, rather than the whole desktop, or may be able to use the alternate install CD.

Ubuntu 8.10 is the upcoming version of the Ubuntu operating system. The common name given to this release from the time of its early development was “Intrepid Ibex”. Note: This is still a beta release. Do not install it on production machines. The final stable version will be released in 30th October 2008.

Ubuntu 8.10 Alpha 1 traz como novidades o Kernel 2.6.26 e a fusão dos seus repositórios com os do Debian Sid. Este primeiro alpha não está disponível em LiveCD, apenas a versão "Alternate", mas segundo o anuncio, eles serão disponibilizados a partir do alpha 2. Para quem usa a versão 8.04, pode atualizar para esta nova versão usando o comando: update-manager-d Vale a pena lembrar que esta é uma versão em fase de testes, e por isso não é recomendada para uso em produção.
