As for netbooks, Acer shipped around 2.4 million units in the third quarter and with demand for the Aspire one climbing in the US market, the company's shipment in 2008 will reach or surpass its goal of 5-6 million units, according to Gianfranco Lanci, the company president.
Lanci also added that in 2009, the global netbook market scale will expand to 30-35 million units, with Acer to grab a 40-50% share, equivalent to shipments of around 12-15 million units.
Acer has announced results for the third quarter this year with consolidated revenues of NT$159.2 billion (US$5 billion), representing 31% on-year growth. Operating income was US$145 million after expensing employee bonuses and remuneration. Net profit after tax was US$95 million and EPS was NT$1.22.
