At age 32, Galarraga turned into a great hitter. At age 35, he turned into Mickey Mantle. After two seasons cut short by injuries, Galarraga took a pay-cut signing a one-year deal to play with the expansion Colorado Rockies in 1993. He went on to hit .370, winning a batting title in his first year at Coors Field. Galarraga parlayed his season into a 4-year $17 million contract with the Rockies.
