Manually schedule Software Update 'the OS X way' with launchd
A tool called launchctl is used to add and remove them from launchd. While these files are technically human-readable, they're not the most fun to create and edit. In the interest of keeping this as non-technical as possible, I'm going to use a very handy utility called Lingon. The latest version (2.1.1) can be found at Sourceforge.

Lingon
Lingon is a graphical user interface for creating launchd configuration files for Mac OS X Leopard (10.5). You get all your launchd configuration files listed hierarchically so you can easily see all and choose which one to edit. Editing a configuration file is easier than ever in this version and the most common settings are readily available.
