aDesklets é um conjunto de librarias gráficas para X window, semelhante ao Yahoo Widgets , que permite carregar pequenos applets com as mais variadas funcionalidades, mais conhecidos como desklets.
Existem outras alternativas como as gDesklets para Gnome, ou SuperKaramba para o KDE no entanto a grande vantagem, refere-se ao facto de ser leve, e simples sendo ideal para computadores pessoais com características limitadas, ou avançadas. É também independente de ambiente gráfico, tendo já sido testado com sucesso além dos anteriores em Xfce. Este guia foi testado com sucesso no Ubuntu Breezy 5.10 e Dapper 6.06.

Que tal aplicar diversos temas no KDE e mudar a cara do seu ambiente gráfico?
O programa Superkaramba pode fazer isso, baixe a versão correta da sua distribuição em:

Depois pode baixar os temas para o Karamba descompactando em qualquer diretório:

Depois de instalar, abra o programa Superkaramba e com ele em execução escolha o diretório do tema escolhido.

March 20, 2006 SuperKaramba 0.39 is out! Get it!
The 0.37 release notes still apply to this release. There were mostly bugfixes in the this release as we worked on the KDE 3.5.2 development.
Any bugs that are found should be reported to bugs.kde.org.
We have no ability to maintain superkaramba.com until Adam's return. Anyone seeking themes should refer to kdelook.org.
What is SuperKaramba?
SuperKaramba is, in simple terms, a tool that allows you to easily create interactive eye-candy on your KDE desktop. Currently, only linux is officially supported.
How does it work?
Theme writers create themes, or text files that define their widget. Then, they can optionally add python scripting to make their widget interactive. The possibilities are endless!
Here are just some examples of the things that can be done:
* Display system information such as CPU Usage, MP3 playing, etc.
* Create cool custom toolbars that work any way imaginable
* Create little games or virtual pets that live on your desktop
* Display information from the internet, such as weather and headlines
The possibilities really are endless!

Na época em que eu instalei o aDesklets, o pacote não estava com problemas, mas para reinstalar deu um bom trabalho...

Introdução
Cansado de tentar instalar o gdesklets e do peso do superkaramba? Não se preocupe... o adesklets chegou para te salvar!
Um pouco de historinha:
Um belo dia, no mesmo lugar onde estou (no trabalho), muito à toa, como de costume, estava navegando à procura de novos programas para o nosso grandioso pinguim, afim de passar logo o tempo.
Foi aí que, ao olhar um screenshot, me deparei com uma barra de ícones bem legal (que nunca tinha visto). Imaginei que, mais uma vez, fosse um gdesklets (cheio das suas dependências chatas de instalar) da vida ou talvez o superkaramba (pesado e que necessita do KDE e algumas configurações adicionais para funcionar fora dele). Mas não, ao olhar a descrição da screen, percebi que se tratava de algo novo para mim, algo chamado adesklets.

Manual - Instalar o KDE4 no Ubuntu
Muitas vezes vimos distros mais apetecíveis gráficamente e gostaríamos de fazer na nossa certas coisas que vimos. Bem a verdade é que o facto de querermos usufruir dessas funcionalidades não são significado de termos de mudar de SO pois o facto de o Linux ser Open-Source torna-o totalmente customizável e podemos mudar o tipo de ecrâ gráfico de qualquer distro para o que nós queiramos.
Isto no Gusty Gibbon funcionava desta forma em que tinhamos de colocar mais um repositório na lista, no Hardy Heron ainda não testei mas o procedimento é igual e se o repositório já tiver na lista ele avisa.
Para instalar no Ubuntu Gusty Gibbon/Ubuntu Hardy Heron, a partir dos repositórios, sem complicação e sem dor de cabeça.
Para isso, é necessário adicionar um repositório ao sources.list:
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
Depois basta adicionar a seguinte linha ao final do sources.list:
deb [Só Membros do fórum conseguem ver os Links. Clica aqui e faz o teu registo ...] gutsy main
Após a adição da linha de texto no arquivo, grave-o e feche o documento. Em seguida, actualize os repositórios com o comando:
sudo apt-get update
ATENÇÃO:
Antes de se iniciar a instalação do KDE 4.0, deve-se remover as bibliotecas das versões beta do KDE 4.0 desta forma:
sudo aptitude remove kdelibs5 kde4base-data kde4libs-data
Depois de terminados os passos anteriores, pode-se proceder à instalação do KDE 4.0:
sudo aptitude install kde4-core
Após a instalação termina-se a sessão e inicia-se já com o Windows Manager KDE4. Depois para inicializar sempre com o KDE devemos pré-defini-lo.

KDE 4.0.3 Released

KDE 4.0.3 has been released and packages are available for Kubuntu 7.10 and Hardy. They install to /usr/lib/kde4 and can be installed alongside your existing KDE 3.
Instructions:
* For 7.10 add deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-members-kde4/ubuntu gutsy main to your /etc/apt/sources.list
* Install kde4-core, note that PPAs aren't authenticated so you will likely get a warning when installing
* KDE 4 apps should appear in your KDE 3 K-menu or you can run a full session by selecting "KDE 4" from your login manager.

Software de origem alemã, o KDE (K Desktop Enviroment) é, simultaneamente, um ambiente gráfico (que inclui um gerenciador de janelas) e uma plataforma de desenvolvimento livre, de código aberto, desenvolvido com base na biblioteca Qt. É um dos mais populares ambientes gráficos usados em GNU/Linux.
