Hot Tubs and Pregnancy Don't Mix
New research suggests that warnings against hot tub use during pregnancy have some basis in reality. Women were twice as likely to suffer miscarriages if they took dips in hot tubs during the first 10 weeks of pregnancy, a survey of San Francisco-area women found.

The oldest known spa (mineral bath) still in existence is in Merano Italy where there is evidence of organized use of the spring dating back 5000 years ago. It's quite possible wandering humanoids soaked their tired feet in the steaming pools of ancient geysers even earlier than 5000 years ago.
