Parfois un lecteur mpeg4 de salon, selon la puce de décodage qu'il contient, refuse de lire un film au format XviD, mais pas n'importe lesquels. Il peut y avoir énormément de raisons à cela, mais en voici une qui revient souvent : par défaut, le codec xvid utilise une fonction d'encodage appelée "Packed Bitsream", que la plupart des lecteurs ne prennent pas en charge. Inutile toutefois de tout réencoder (contrairement au quarter pixel), MPEG4Modifier peut enlever ce paramètre (cochez "unpack" et sauvegardez). La durée de l'opération est celle que mettra votre disque dur à lire la totalité du fichier et le sauvegarder après modification, quelques minutes en général. Il permet également d'éditer la partie "User data" du fichier vidéo, qui contient parfois des données problématiques pour des lecteurs de salon.

installez le logiciel MPEG4Modifier ! Lancez le, puis suivez la procédure suivante (moins de 2 minutes pour un film !) : 1. Cliquez sur "Browse" et indiquez la vidéo désirée. Celle-ci se charge rapidement. 2. La ligne "Packed Bitstream = Yes" est la source du problème ! 3. Cochez alors "Unpack", cliquez sur "Save.." et indiquez le nom de votre vidéo modifiée. 4. C'est parti... Cela est très rapide..et efficace ! Cette astuce, pourtant publiée en Octobre 2007 par Baloo sur ce topic, peut être encore bien utile vu le nombre de posts relatant ce souci ! A noter que hplusman a créé, à partir des sources de moitah, un logiciel BatchUnpack permettant de réaliser cette modification sur plusieurs vidéos à la fois (ou sur un répertoire complet).
