Website User Testing the Usabilla Way - Features

WordPress has left the building - KevinjohnGallagher.com
Kev, they released a BETA version that they didn’t even load on Windows. The MENU didn’t work. Not some advanced feature throwing a bug, the fucking MENU didn’t work. I can’t test our themes and software against that. Lets be honest mate, how did it get past their tester and release procedure? Oh, thats right, they dont have a Tester. They just load it on their MacBooks and presume it works for the other 95% of the world. It’s a fucking shambles, and clearly they’ve learnt nothing since the 3.0 fuck-up.
Tout est dit.

Should Sighted Developers Use Screenreaders To Test Accessibility? | badeyes.com
There is some controversy about the idea of sighted web designers and developers using screenreading software to test web sites for accessibility. Some people suggest one must use a screenreader to test their sites. Others believe it is counter productive. I think that very few sighted people can get the correct results by using screenreaders to test a website. I further think that too many people think that the accessibility testing is complete once they’ve used a screenreader on their website.

Opera Dragonfly - Style profiler preview
As a real world example of how big the impact can be on performance, I made a test with the full HTML5 specification downloaded locally and ran the profiler. I noticed few of the most expensive selectors had ":link" and ":visited". I changed these to instead be "a:link" or "a:visited" (in this case they were equivalent in terms of which elements matched). This trivial change makes the engine use a cache, and bought the selector matching time down from about 14 seconds to about 11 seconds.
