Buy Cilice

by gregg
cilice was originally a garment or undergarment made of coarse cloth or animal hair (a hairshirt). In more recent times the word has come to refer not to a hairshirt, but to a spiked metal belt or chain worn strapped tight around the upper thigh. Many religious orders within the Roman Catholic Church have used the cilice as a form of "corporal mortification," but in recent years it has become known as a practice of numeraries (celibate lay people) of Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Roman Catholic Church.

Sonatype Blog » Our Focus on Advancing Hudson and Making Great Software

by night.kame

Very recently, Sonatype completed significant development in the evolution of Hudson’s core architecture. The benefits of these changes include better leveraging of industry standards, increased performance and stability, and tight integration with Maven 3 that provides greater visibility into running builds. We are continuing to add engineers to our Hudson team and are working hard with the Hudson community to move much of the work we’ve done here to Java.net.

Sonatype a l'air de vouloir pourrir Hudson : enfin une véritable raison de basculer sur Jerkin'.

Renting Out Tokyo's Tight Spaces - WSJ.com

by karlcow

In Tokyo, where every sliver of land is at a premium, a few feet of unused private property near the front entrance of an apartment building can be used to sell muffins. A patch of storefront space transforms into an ad hoc vegetable stand for a farmer or a consulting space for a fortune-teller.

BLDGBLOG: Book Tower

by karlcow

The house's transparent polycarbonate cladding, used to "expose the interactions" of the building elements, makes the house function like "a structural X-ray," we read in a recent issue of Mark Magazine.

Tight quarters, a tight budget and further restrictions—including a height limit and required setbacks—navigated the architects toward their design solution: a 54-square-meter trapezoid perched above the existing structure on steel stilts, topped by a roof deck with views in all directions.

Top 7 recession busting deals

by sar420
With tight wallets and tighter budgets, its not a good feeling to sit at home and bemoan the state of the economy and the job losses. We should rather take up the opportunities offered by the recession before its too late!

Bain & Company: "Retaining car buyers: service with a smile" < Publications

by irols
With the latest numbers showing Indian car sales falling close to 7 percent in October, the third drop in four months, auto makers are wondering how to attract new buyers. That won't be easy as tight credit, increasingly thrifty consumers and a slowing Indian economy continue to hit demand, forcing some car manufacturers to cut production .

Crammed / Staff Benda Bilili 'Très Très Fort'

by fotopol
ensemble congolais Four senior singer/guitarists sitting on tricycles, occasionally dancing on the floor of the stage, arms raised in joyful supplication, are the core or the band, backed by a younger, all-acoustic rhythm section pounding out tight beats. Over the top of this are weird, infectious guitar-like solos performed by a 17 year-old prodigy on a one-string electric lute he designed and built himself out of a tin can.

TOO OLD TO ROCK 'N' ROLL TOO YOUNG TO DIE Lyrics - JETHRO TULL

by tadeufilippini
Too Old To Rock 'n' Roll Too Young To Die lyrics The old Rocker wore his hair too long, wore his trouser cuffs too tight. Unfashionable to the end --- drank his ale too light. Death's head belt buckle --- yesterday's dreams --- the transport caf' prophet of doom. Ringing no change in his double-sewn seams in his post-war-babe gloom. Now he's too old to Rock'n'Roll but he's too young to die. He once owned a Harley Davidson and a Triumph Bonneville. Counted his friends in burned-out spark plugs and prays that he always will. But he's the last of the blue blood greaser boys all of his mates are doing time: married with three kids up by the ring road sold their souls straight down the line. And some of them own little sports cars and meet at the tennis club do's. For drinks on a Sunday --- work on Monday. They've thrown away their blue suede shoes. Now they're too old to Rock'n'Roll and they're too young to die. So the old Rocker gets out his bike to make a ton before he takes his leave. Up on the A1 by Scotch Corner just like it used to be. And as he flies --- tears in his eyes --- his wind-whipped words echo the final take and he hits the trunk road doing around 120 with no room left to brake. And he was too old to Rock'n'Roll but he was too young to die. No, you're never too old to Rock'n'Roll if you're too young to die.

Ideas and Trends - For New Journalists, All Bets, but Not Mikes, Are Off - NYTimes.com

by filloux
For New Journalists, All Bets, but Not Mikes, Are Off By JACQUES STEINBERG Published: June 8, 2008 A 61-year-old woman elbows her 5-foot-2-inch frame to the front of the crowd mobbing Bill Clinton after a campaign event in South Dakota. As Mr. Clinton shakes her hand and holds it tight, she deftly draws him into a response to an article on the Vanity Fair Web site that examines his post-presidential life. “Sleazy” and “slimy” are among the words that issue from the former president’s mouth. Within hours, audio of the three-minute exchange — including the woman’s description of the article as a “hatchet job,” and Mr. Clinton’s description of Todd Purdum, the author and a former reporter for The New York Times, as “dishonest” — is available for the world to hear on the Huffington Post Web site.

OLD PHOTOS of JAPAN: Woman Carrying Charcoal 1890s

by karlcow

The men may be said to wear nothing. Few of the women wear anything but a short petticoat wound tightly round them, or blue cotton trousers very tight in the legs and baggy at the top, with a blue cotton garment open to the waist tucked into the band, and a blue cotton handkerchief knotted round the head. From the dress no notion of the sex of the wearer could be gained, nor from the faces, if it were not for the shaven eyebrows and black teeth.

YouTube - boyinstatic's Channel

by oqdbpo
Boy In Static is Boston's Alexander Chen, a self-taught musician, singer/songwriter and graphic artist. Beginning his recording career with a three-song demo and a game of email tag with the Notwist's Alien Transistor label, Boy In Static's first album, Newborn, was released in 2005 after the two sides finally met at a Boston area concert. An amply proficient musician, Chen is able to play numerous instruments as well as arrange the live recordings he produces with a tight-knit group of musical collaborators. With a sound that ranges from the wall-of-sound aesthetic of Creation's heyday to the electronic pop of Morr Music, Boy In Static's music finds a comfortable balance between processed sounds and timeless songwriting.

Strategy Letter VI - Joel on Software

by mbertier, 1 comment (via)
The developers who put a lot of effort into optimizing things and making them tight and fast will wake up to discover that effort was, more or less, wasted, or, at the very least, you could say that it “conferred no long term competitive advantage,” if you’re the kind of person who talks like an economist.

The FontFeed » Extra Bold to Ultra Black: Hit Hard with Heavy Duty Type

by sbrothier & 1 other
In an effort to get noticed, a lot of folks turn to the most obvious item in their font menu: Impact™. In concept, it plays the role well. It is heavy and condensed, yet still legible, with short descenders that enable the user to stack headlines big and tight. The problem: overuse. No matter how loud it looks, a typeface can only shout so many times before it loses its voice. Fortunately, when a powerful vehicle is needed to carry an important message, there are plenty of capable, but less obvious typefaces for the job. Have a look at our Extra Bold newsletter and see more heavy duty headline options in the list below.
