TR10: Social TV - Technology Review

by sbrothier
Marie-José Montpetit, an invited scientist at MIT's Research Lab for Electronics, has been working for several years on social TV--a way to seamlessly combine the social networks that are boosting TV ratings with the more passive experience of traditional TV viewing. Her goal is to make watching television something that viewers in different places can share and discuss--and to make it easier to find something to watch.

When Meg and I went to Italy for our belated honeymoon I packed a 5d MkII with me and took about five pictures with it because I left it in the room most of the time because I simply tired of carrying that beast around on vacation.

Don't Send That Email. Pick up the Phone! - Anthony Tjan - Harvard Business Review

by oseres (via)
Around this time last year, I wrote about how we need to get back to allowing conversation to occur without texting, emailing, browsing, Tweeting, Facebooking, or doing whatever else zeros and ones can do these days on smart phones, iPads, notebooks, etc. I am as guilty as the next person of falling for the perception that any response latency is unacceptable.

AnandTech - The Apple Thunderbolt Display Review

by night.kame

Ever since I moved to a notebook as my main work computer I've become increasingly annoyed with the process of actually moving my notebook-as-a-desktop around. At my desk I've got DisplayPort, Ethernet, two USB, FireWire 800, speakers and power all plugged into a 15-inch MacBook Pro. What makes it frustrating isn't the first-world-problem of having to unplug seven cables, rather that it doesn't need to be seven cables - Apple could make the whole thing happen with just two.

Dans le monde des PC, ça fait 20 ans que ce problème est résolu, sans fil. Chez Apple, ils se trainent toujours avec ces fils à la patte.
