ASCII by Jason Scott / Javascript Hero: Change Computer History Forever
But on the whole I am primarily dealing with artifacts and not experience. A number of people have done some good work to bring in experience of computer history, most notably the Emulator People. In fact, if you don’t go too crazy on the rococo specifics of the accuracy of emulators, they do really really well to take you from “I wonder what it was like to play Choplifter” to “Wow, I am playing Choplifter“. And as someone sitting in the channels of several emulation projects, I will tell you they are all getting better, every single day – improvements in speed, accuracy, flexibility and expandability.
So here is what I’d like to do.
I want to help port the MESS and MAME emulators to Javascript.
Bonjour le boulot pour émuler correctement les systèmes multi-processeurs ou à co-processeurs, et encore plus pour les systèmes sans horloge (pas que la gestion des timings en Javascript soit boulversante...)
The Frame: Japan marks 6 months since earthquake, tsunami
TOKYO (AP) -- Last Sunday was the six-month anniversary of the day the massive earthquake and tsunami devastated Japan's northeast coast. Some 20,000 people are dead or missing. More than 800,000 homes were completely or partially destroyed. The disaster crippled businesses, roads and infrastructure. The Japanese Red Cross Society estimates that 400,000 people were displaced. Half a year later, there are physical signs of progress. Much of the debris has been cleared away or at least organized into big piles. In the port city of Kesennuma, many of the boats carried inland by the tsunami have been removed. Most evacuees have moved out of high school gyms and into temporary shelters or apartments. Last week the Kyodo News agency distributed an amazing group of combination photographs showing three scenes. The first scene is right after the earthquake and tsunami hit, then three months later and finally, how the scene looks now. (44 images)

Nevertheless, there are members of the Nagasaki political and economic elite who both understand and support the broader purpose of USN port calls and its mutual benefits to the U.S. and Japan. Post will work closely with these leaders to pave the way for even more successful USN ship visits to Nagasaki in the future.

don't code today what you can't debug tomorrow: your webkit port is special (just like every other port)
next time someone shouts "there is no two exact WebKit", you know the story behind it.

jtauber's Rev at master - GitHub
It's not intended to be a port of Git to Python. It's more designed as an
exploration of how Git works and how the concepts might be applied to other
tasks. In particular, I'm interested in exploring its use for versioning
in-memory data structures rather than blobs on disk.

Facebook Now Allows You To “Download Your Information”
Whoah. Until now there hasn’t been a way to download info off of Facebook, but at today’s Facebook event in Palo Alto, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a feature that allows users to port their data from Facebook in a .zip file, “People own and have control over all info they put into Facebook and “Download Your Information” enables people to take stuff with them,” says Zuckerberg.
