Codex is a weekly music podcast hosted by Jean Snow, recorded in Tokyo, Japan. A long, long time ago in a country far, far away (that would be Canada) he used to have a college radio show. He had two of them, actually, first when he was truly a university student — believe it or not, it was called The Jean Snow Show — and then 10 years ago when he was back in Canada for a year, he did another show on the same station (CKUM) which he decided to call Codex (for reasons that have long been forgotten). He’s long missed those days of hosting a weekly music show — in a proper studio — and although he can’t replicate that same environment, he’s recently started doing similar but on the net, in podcast form.

O objetivo do Música de Graça é de ser um portal de recomendações, que produz e divulga música inédita grátis, para o público fazer o download, mandar para quem quiser ou mesmo fazer seu próprio remix (desde que não seja para uso comercial), já que as composições serão liberadas sob uma licença Creative Commons – organização sem fins lucrativos que disponibiliza licenças flexíveis para obras intelectuais. O site não prioriza estilos, músicos novos ou artistas consagrados. Segundo Dani Gurgel, criadora e desenvolvedora do projeto, “o que se pretende é traçar conexões entre músicos totalmente diferentes mostrando que eles são ligados de uma forma ou de outra.” E completa “como se trata de um projeto eclético e de fácil acesso, espero chegar a um público cada vez maior e dar a oportunidade de ouvir outras criações de grandes artistas e de novos e desconhecidos músicos”.

How the information is manifested – through diagrams, charts, or interactive media – is up to them, though we've grown to trust their authority on all stories, from the sensitive (9/11) to the scientific (a perfect triple axel at the Olympics).
