PUBLIC MARKS with search mantra

Recently I came across this study published by Kauffman Foundation. I was surprised to see some of their findings as I believed/ heard/ trusted a different mantra on entrepreneurship. Here’s my top 10 favorite.

gtd, recipes, mantra, etc. all of these are tools which distract from the core non-issue. It is ok to create humus. I guess I have to write something about this.

One of my main goal for the plugin is ultimately to keep it lightweight, maybe under 20k when compressed. Because otherwise you should probably stick with Ext Grid or YUI data table.

Over the years the “people don’t scroll on the web!” mantra has been both supported and denied. Today I think it’s pretty fair to say the majority of people have figured out how and when to scroll a web page. This has pretty much become a non-issue.

Visualization We believe that the future of user interfaces is in the direction of larger, information-abundant displays. With such designs, the worrisome flood of information can be turned into a productive river of knowledge. There are many visual alternatives but the basic principle for browsing and searching might be summarized as the Visual Information Seeking Mantra: Overview first, zoom and filter, then details-on-demand. In several projects we rediscovered this principle and therefore wrote it down and highlighted it as a continuing reminder. If we can design systems with effective visual displays, direct manipulation interfaces, and dynamic queries then users will be able to responsibly and confidently take on even more ambitious tasks.
