Female salon owner keeps robber as sex slave, feeding him only Viagra

by alamat & 1 other (via)
London, July 13 (ANI): A Russian man who tried to rob a hair salon got more than what he had bargained for when the female shop owner, a karate black belt, overpowered him, stripped him naked, and for the next three days, used him as a sex slave to ‘teach him a lesson’ – force feeding him Viagra to keep the lesson going.

The Most Important Start Up Lesson I Have Learned From Fred Wilson | Perry Blacher

by oseres
I often remind myself of a lesson I learned from Fred. There is no shortage of insight and wisdom that Fred shares on his blog daily, but one thing he said always sticks in my mind, as it rings true for me in the start ups I have been involved with.

by karlcow

While the majority of users still access Pandora through their PCs, that percentage is decreasing, and trends suggest it will probably drop below 50% by the end of the year. This falls in line with some research we’ve done, which suggests that the era of PCs as media devices has begun to wane.

Ten Rules for Being Human by Cherie Carter-Scott

by greut & 2 others
  1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it's yours to keep for the entire period.
  2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called, "life."
  3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work."
  4. Lessons are repeated until they are learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.
  5. Learning lessons does not end. There's no part of life that doesn't contain its lessons. If you're alive, that means there are still lessons to be learned.
  6. "There" is no better a place than "here." When your "there" has become a "here", you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here."
  7. Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.
  8. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.
  9. Your answers lie within you. The answers to life's questions lie within you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.
  10. You will forget all this.

A Lesson In Timing Attacks (or, Don't use MessageDigest.isEquals) | codahale.com

by karlcow & 1 other

Timing attacks are pretty horrible from the perspective of someone trying to write a secure cryptosystem. They work against a programmer’s best instincts—don’t do extra work—to give an attacker with access to a Statistics 101 textbook a good solid grip on your application’s guts.
