Archiving Websites | cooper-hewitt labs

by karlcow

As with anything, there are downsides to using this technique. The main one being no more interactivity. If your website had a commenting feature built in, it won’t work anymore. If it ran off a CMS like WordPress, you won’t be able to log in and make edits to your content. Everything is now static HTML, forever.

Joe Hewitt

by karlcow

The Web is not HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It's not DOM, SVG, WebGL, PNG, or Flash. The Web is really just HTTP over TCP/IP. What gets transported over HTTP does not define the Web. There is, however, one other characteristic that does define the Web, and that is the humble hyperlink.

It seems that joe Hewitt finally found its way to the Web architecture document.

Jesse LeDoux's LeDouxville

by fabifab
Born in Portland, Oregon, Jesse LeDoux worked for many years as an art director for Seattle-based Sub Pop Records where he created iconic album and poster artwork for such artists as the Shins ('Best album packaging' Grammy nominee for Chutes Too Narrow), Iron and Wine and Death Cab for Cutie before leaving in 2004 to focus on his client-based and personal work at LeDouxville. Parallel to working on commercial illustration and collaborative projects for such clients as Nike, Kidrobot, Giro, Penguin UK, Rome Snowboards and Target, he has exhibited internationally. Most recently, his work was included in the Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial (2007) and an installation at the University of Maryland (2008). A large-scale mural of his work can currently be seen in downtown Denver, Colorado. He currently lives and works in Providence, RI.

It is the mission of Cooper-Hewitt’s staff and Board of Trustees to advance the public understanding of design across the twenty-four centuries of human creativity represented by the Museum’s collection

NextGEN Gallery for iPhone/iPod Touch at alex.rabe

by mozkart
For my own purpose I would like to show my family galleries from my web page.  It’s ok with the standard page design, but a iPhone native web page would be even better. So I get the iUI from Joe Hewitt (Creator of Firebug) and programmed (based on the WordPress Mobile Edition by Alex King) a little plugin to show the galleries in a iPhone native design. Really not very famous, but usefull for me. Here are some screenshots (With Safari, I didn’t Jailbreak my iPod for now) :     You can see a live demonstration when you visit nextgen.boelinger.com with your iPhone/iPod.

The Hewitt horror show: Rod Liddle on Patricia Hewitt

by mikepower
Her entire career seems to have been built on the notion that social change must be enforced on a country that is too stupid or prejudiced to embrace her ideology voluntarily — regardless of the injustice to the individual.
