The Harmattan Python project provides a Python runtime environment for Nokia's N9 phone and the N950 developer device built on the MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan platform. It provides a full-featured set of packages and tools to rapidly develop and run Python applications using the PySide: Python for Qt bindings together with the Qt Quick UI definition language. Applications can be deployed as individual Debian packages, using the community OBS, or eventually, via Ovi Store.

But as a designer, I need to know the full range of options — and limitations — I have at my disposal when building a design for a client. jQuery presents some amazing options for design.

A full-featured, pure-Python tiling window manager.

As a real world example of how big the impact can be on performance, I made a test with the full HTML5 specification downloaded locally and ran the profiler. I noticed few of the most expensive selectors had ":link" and ":visited". I changed these to instead be "a:link" or "a:visited" (in this case they were equivalent in terms of which elements matched). This trivial change makes the engine use a cache, and bought the selector matching time down from about 14 seconds to about 11 seconds.

BigCam is a full-frame CMOS camera built around a FillFactory IBIS4-14000 sensor. The camera is constructed of openly available components, the designs and software are open source, and the mechanical form factor integrates into ThorLabs' 60mm cage system.
