While the channel is public, it is not published. It's the difference between doing a podcast, and chatting with your friends at the pub. Both are fine, and both are essentially public, but they come with different assumptions about privacy.

Tough Talk On Emmanuelle Alt, Vogue Paris, Recycled Creativity, & Robo Websites - 2 Anne Enke's Sensuality Blog - AnneofCarversville.com

by sbrothier
I may have been the first fashion and style writer to call out big concerns about Emmanuelle Alt’s visionary capacity to lead Vogue Paris, but I’m no longer alone. It’s fine for Alt to lead the magazine in a new direction, but creative, captivating originality and freshness must rule. Carine Roitfeld is a tough act to follow. If she goes into the magazine business as rumoured, let Vogue Paris pray it’s only a semi-annual or quarterly.

Far Better Than 3-D: Animated GIFs That Savor A Passing Moment | Co.Design

by sbrothier
You know how people sometimes say that jazz is the only truly American art form? Animated GIFs are like the jazz of the internet: they could only exist, and be created and appreciated, online. That said, PopTart Cat is not exactly on par with Thelonious Monk. But photographer Jamie Beck and motion graphics artist Kevin Burg may have finally found a way to elevate the animated GIF to a level approaching fine art, with their "cinemagraphs" -- elegant, subtly animated creations that are "something more than a photo but less than a video." Here's one of my favorites:

Sandman: Dream Hunters

by alamat & 1 other (via)
Among those spinoff materials is “The Dream Hunters,” a gorgeously illustrated novella about the love between a beautiful kitsune and a Buddhist monk, and the part that Gaiman’s legendary Dream plays in their story. Now it’s been reworked like fine modeler’s clay into an even more exquisite graphic novel, with lushly shaded artwork based on traditional Japanese art. It’s a stunning piece of work.

BIB - Le web des données ( 2010.06) -« Bibliothèques [reloaded]

by decembre

This is not Chernobyl – Response to Skewed Media Coverage of Fukushima Nuclear Plant Incident -HESO Magazine

by karlcow

I think it’s time I checked in with another update from Tokyo to set the record straight. If you’ve been reading the foreign press about the “toxic cloud” hanging over Tokyo, you should know that I’m fine. Everyone in Tokyo is fine. The mask and the bathtub? I’m not so worried about those any more. The only exposure we’re worried about is exposure to sensationalist bullshit printed in the foreign press that is worrying our families and causing panic.
