First produced by Peel Engineering in 1962 on the Isle of Man, it was built to be a city commuter’s dream—made for ferrying “one adult and a shopping bag” through London’s congested streets. With Lilliputian dimensions (54 x 41 x 48 inches) and a weight to match (130 pounds), the P50 makes a Smart car seem like a tank: The three-wheeled, 4.2-horsepower ride topped out at 43 mph.
