Super Slow Peel P50 Makes Its Comeback | Magazine

by karlcow

The Peel P50 was never meant to burn rubber. First produced by Peel Engineering in 1962 on the Isle of Man, it was built to be a city commuter’s dream—made for ferrying “one adult and a shopping bag” through London’s congested streets. With Lilliputian dimensions (54 x 41 x 48 inches) and a weight to match (130 pounds), the P50 makes a Smart car seem like a tank: The three-wheeled, 4.2-horsepower ride topped out at 43 mph.

APIs are for human beings (too) - Twilio Engineering BlogTwilio Engineering Blog

by karlcow

Computers don’t care about API design. Convenient serialization formats, sane parameter names, and a RESTful interface mean nothing to a robot.  These aspects of an API are not meant for a machine, they’re meant for you – the developer.  APIs should be for human beings first and computers second.

SPARX Enterprise Architect 9 has been released!!!

by tadanderson
EA is still my tool of choice for architecting and designing systems. The new architecture tools in Visual Studio 2010 are very nice reverse engineering tools, but the UML tools are still to primitive to be considered for real world architecture.

Wealthfront Engineering: jQuery the Right Way

jQuery has changed the way we write Javascript by abstracting out much of the painful cross-browser implementation details that used to plague developers, but to use it correctly still requires a little knowledge about what’s going on under the hood.
