Amazon S3: Versioning Proposal

by karlcow

Versioning allows you to preserve, retrieve, and restore every version of every object stored in an Amazon S3 bucket. Once enabled for a bucket, Amazon S3 preserves existing objects anytime you perform a PUT, POST, COPY, or DELETE operation on them. By default, GET requests will retrieve the most recently written version. Older versions of an overwritten or deleted object can be retrieved by specifying a version in the request.

Monitoring Bandwidth Usage for a Xen node @ IONCANNON

by camel
After my last post on limiting bandwidth usage on a Xen node I thought I would follow up with how to monitor the bandwidth usage of a Xen node. I chose to use netacct-mysql to monitor bandwidth and store the results into a mysql database. This isn't the only way of monitoring the bandwidth but it was easy to set up and stores the information directly into mysql without needing any extra scripts. On the Xen setup I'm using for an example there are 3 nodes and a bucket for each node will be created in the mysql database by netacct. Setting up netacct can be tricky so you will want to check to make sure traffic for each node is going into the correct bucket.

Micro Persuasion: How to Use Gmail as a Business Diary and More Tips

Knowledge workers attend lots of meetings. We also have tons of loose bits of information that need collecting during the day. It all needs to be processed. I use David Allen's GTD system and now buckle it into Gmail as my sole collection bucket.

Learn all about Fast Food - Part I

by jamesbe & 8 others (via)
Fast food. Wheither it is tacos or burgers, we all love it just the same. Fast food has become a way of life for some people. They eat it three meals a day. There is no difference between a Big Mac and a steak to some people these days. When I was growing up as a kid, I hardly ever ate any fast food. To be honest we were too poor to eat fast food. Sometimes I think that was a blessing. I mean, sure I love a bucket of fried chicken like the rest of you, but there is more to eating than fast food.

Iraq: House of Commons Hansard Debates for 24 Jan 2007

by Mal Burns (via)
This is the transcript of last week's Commons debate on Iraq - the first one it's had and also one the Prime Preacher himself refused to attend. Luckily, the bucket was on hand to stand up for government follies. When going to this link don't think I've got it wrong. There's a brief bit on waterways and such before the debate starts around two paragraphs down. It then continues by going to "next section" - the expression "page" not seemingly known in the parliamentary language. Suffer it - you need the information!

Using WordPress as CMS | blogHelper

by pvergain & 2 others
WordPress (WP) has always been a highly versatile blogging platform, even way back in v1.2. So versatile that many have attempted to push it to the next level, and use it as a more conventional content management system (CMS) - not unlike Drupal, XOOPS, Joomla, and gang. And if the coverage a recent post on using WordPress to run a magazine or news website got is indicative of the interest people have in pushing the limits of WP, then there’s still a whole bucket load of it now. So, here’s little me starting a series of posts on Using WordPress as a CMS - from the more theoretical to the more practical (sub)topics. Hopefully, the things I’ve learnt while playing with WP so far will come in useful to some of you.
