It’s got a listing of available data packages, powered by the Comprehensive Knowledge Archive Network, and user-generated lists of apps and new ideas. This is just right: the data you need, combined with a way to promote the things you make and a place to get ideas if you’ve got itchy typing fingers but lack inspiration.

Photoshop High Key Glow Effect Tutorial

In this Photoshop tutorial, we'll learn how to create a high key glow effect, which is a fancy way of saying we'll be applying a glow only to the highlights in an image. This effect works especially well with wedding portraits since it's great for adding a romantic, magical look to your photos, and wedding portraits usually contain lots of bright white areas to work with. We'll see how to easily select just the highlights in an image using Photoshop's Color Range command, then we'll copy the highlights to their own layer and create the glow effect using a blur filter and one of Photoshop's layer blend modes designed for lightening images. Finally, we'll combine layers into a layer group and use a layer mask to limit the areas where the glow effect is visibile. It may sound like a lot of work, but once you know how to do it, the entire effect can be completed in just a few minutes! I'm using Photoshop CS4 here, but any recent version of Photoshop will work.

Created to appeal to a new generation of innovative minds, the exhibition is the result of a ‘cracking idea’ – a partnership between Aardman Animations, the Science Museum and the Intellectual Property Office. Visitors will interact with all kinds of clever and quirky exhibits as they are taken on a tour of 62 West Wallaby Street, Wallace and Gromit’s famous terraced home. Exhibits include innovative and patented objects from the Museum's own collection, as well as some of Wallace and Gromit’s mind-boggling creations like the Tellyscope II, the Piella Propellor and the Blend-o-Matic. Wallace and Gromit will also be calling on visitors to use their ideas to help power a brand new invention of theirs, the Thinking Cap - top secret at the moment, with patent pending.
