We’ve launched People in Photos, a new feature that will help put a face to the Flickrverse and enable you to highlight members that you’ve photographed in a whole new way. People in Photos lets you add a member to a photo, find photos of people you know, and manage which photos you’re in. Huzzah!

if you make the process (for adding tags) simple enough and provide tools for managing those tags then people will participate. Small tools for self-organization.

I did want to apologize for assuming that the XHTML errors I had recently were due to WhatWG members having fun at my expense. I've had people deliberately break my XHTML-based comments in the past when I've written about XHTML, and the break was documented with a screenshot in the web site of a WhatWG member. Data Walk: Bringing Demographics to the People is a project proposal that seeks to unfurl one of the most used data sets into the real world by mapping Census data directly onto the NYC landscape.

Mass communication is a phrase that’s been re-defined over the centuries, as tools to transfer what people think, what they want and how they feel have developed with human progress. Cave paintings, language, stone indentations, the written word, the printing press, the gramophone, the telephone, cinema, radio, television, computers – and now the Internet.

This project involves creating a Persistence Of Vision (POV) device for mounting on a bike wheel. There are a few of these devices already on the market (and we've bought a couple to experiment with); this project differs in that it combines a basic bike meter with the POV readout. The device will display speed and total distance travelled. Unlike standard bike computers, this information isn't displayed for the cyclist but broadcast to other people in the street. By making this information public we give the cyclist's activities greater 'visibility' within the urban environment.
